Techie Tuesday: A Conversation with Mike Treacy

Techie Tuesday is our way of sharing the depth of our technical talent at Onix. These employees often work behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly.

This series showcases not only their tireless work but sheds a light on their passions and gives insight into their personal journey to inspire you.

Mike Treacy, Director of Support Services, works hard every day to make sure our customers receive the top-notch service we are known for while helping to continuously improve overall operations.

What is Your Role at Onix?

I run our Support Services Department which consists of both our Technical Support and Customer Success teams. Additionally, I help lead some internal projects on the operations side mainly focusing on Salesforce and how we use it.

What Makes You Excited to Come to Work Each Day?

Beyond the work itself, it’s the team I work with every day that makes it worth it and pushes me to do better work. From our Sr. Management team to our Frontline support team, everyone I get to work with is passionate about what they are doing here at Onix and supporting our customers.

Tell Us About Your Favorite Project.

My favorite project here has been the overall revamp of some of our internal processes and operations. I’ve been able to expand my knowledge of Sales, Order Management, Legal, Finance, etc. in order to see where there’s room to improve things for our people and customers.

What Do You Like to Do Outside of Work?

Outside of work I mostly keep to myself and enjoy stereotypical nerd stuff (i.e. video games, books, movies, etc.). I like traveling and I’m really looking forward to getting back to Ireland to visit family and friends once we’ve gotten past the current pandemic.

Share Something You Wish People in the Industry Knew.

If you plan for things to go wrong at 3 a.m. on Christmas morning, they’re a lot easier to deal with any other time of the year!

Any Advice for Someone Looking to Do What You Do?

You can’t be afraid to start at the bottom and work your way up. I find that first-hand experience in providing support is key when it comes to leading any sort of support team. Having this kind of experience ensures that you’re in the best position to know and grow your team.

You can’t be afraid to start at the bottom and work your way up, says Mike Treacy @OnixNetworking

Anything Else You'd Like to Share with Our Readers?

Fun fact: I moved over three and a half thousand miles from Cork, Ireland to Ohio (a state I'd never even been to!) to start my job at Onix.
