Techie Tuesday continues to showcase Onix’s tech talent while giving you an inside look at what it’s like to work in the industry.

Our tech experts come from varied backgrounds and do different jobs, but they all have a passion for this field. Follow along as they share how they got started and what they like best about this work.

Joining us this time is Dustin Keib, who’s known for his generous spirit and gregarious personality.

What is Your Role at Onix?

As Head of Cloud Enablement, I work to improve organizational efficiency in our tooling practice and security through repeatable, observable and automated solutions. In this capacity, we work to ensure that everyone is involved in delivering world-class cloud solutions for our customers using the best-in-class techniques and tools to perform their jobs.

On a day-to-basis, you can find me creating data and analytics tools to be used by our Executive Team, developing security and access management procedures or designing resilient multi-cloud architecture patterns to be deployed for our customers.

What Makes You Excited to Come to Work Each Day?

I love having the opportunity to work with brilliant people and helping them solve very complex challenges that come when delivering world-class solutions on all the major public clouds. I’m fortunate to have access to knowledge, new techniques and many awesome people who understand how it all interacts to produce new and highly-repeatable solutions to enterprise IT challenges.

There isn’t a day that goes by without learning something new or seeing something from a completely different vantage point!

Tell Us About Your Favorite Project.

This is a tough question since I get to work with so many different and rewarding customers on so many different types of projects. They are all fun and challenging in their unique way!

I’d say my favorite project so far has been working with an organization that supports community hospitals. We helped them on a data and analytics pipeline assisting doctors to get better information from the patient data they receive from kids they are treating for diabetes. The project was the perfect blend of technology, enterprise change - and best of all, created a positive impact on the world.

What Do You Like to Do Outside of Work?

I have several hobbies, including those around music. I play a variety of instruments, mostly guitar, design and build guitar effects and synth circuits and record music. I also love to tinker with various software development side projects, such as experimenting with distributed systems (like DHTs, blockchains, etc), distributed applications, various toy web applications and also building games (currently working on Dungeon Crawler) using Unity3d and C#.

I like to change up my hobbies from time to time to keep it fresh! These hobbies help me not only stay current on technology but also fill my need for continuous learning.

Share Something You Wish People in the Industry Knew.

First of all, have fun! If every day you get to play with the coolest technology, that’s a pretty cool spot to be in - enjoy it and don’t get so serious about it!
