Lawler Earns Digital Signage Certified Expert Designation

LAKEWOOD, OH — June 29, 2015 — Onix’s John Lawler has earned the Digital Signage Certified Expert (DSCE) designation from the Digital Signage Experts Group. The certification empowers Lawler to help customers meet their digital signage goals.

The DSCE program was created by the Digital Signage Experts Group (DSEG) because digital signage industry leaders recognized that an impartial, agnostic, and vendor neutral training and certification program would provide a platform for continuing education as well as personal and business growth for participants.

The digital signage market is expanding quickly, from the explosion of the retail signage market to growing use in education, healthcare, transportation and manufacturing. While the signs appear simple on the surface, behind the screen lies a tangled web of interconnected and complex technologies that must work together to produce on-screen messages.

The DSCE program focuses on the seven key elements of digital signage: business assessment and objectives, content, design, software, hardware, connectivity and operations. Participants attend a one-day course and must pass a written exam. Mr. Lawler attended the course during the Digital Signage Expo 2015 in Las Vegas in March.

DSCE_badgeMr. Lawler joined Onix in 2011 as a Google Apps for Work Consultant and was promoted to Cloud Services Manager in 2014. He pursued the DSCE training since Onix was developing its digital signage offering around Google Chrome for Work, including the Chromebox and Chromebase devices.

Earning the DSCE designation demonstrates the value that Mr. Lawler places on being well-equipped to guide customers through the evaluation, decision, deployment, and ongoing maintenance and support phases of the digital signage purchase and deployment process.

“The digital signage market is booming, and Onix has developed a powerful yet easy-to-use and cost-effective solution built on Google’s Chrome technology. It’s a new solution, one that really leapfrogs those systems that came before it both in terms of lowering cost and increasing functionality. We have customers evaluating it for their corporate headquarters, healthcare, and educational facilities.” said Lawler.

“It’s a great solution whether you’re looking to deploy 10 signs or 100 or more. And it doesn’t matter what industry you’re in; digital signs aren’t just for retailers any more. Technology enhancements combined with the affordable new Chrome devices are encouraging new users to look into new applications for digital signs,” he added.
