IPE-10Mx
Western DataCom introduces the IPE-10Mx PC/104 Plus High
Assurance IPsec Encryptor. The 10Mx is the next generation of
the IPE. It includes additional interfaces and greater capabilities.
Using hardware based security the IPE-10Mx is designed to secure
all private/public IP internetworking environments (mobile, wireless,
space and stationary).
The IPE-10Mx is a two card solution comprised
of a main cryptographic board and an I/O board. The I/O board
supports two Ethernet interfaces both 10/100 autosensing one
secure (BLACK) and one non-secure (RED). New interfaces added
are a USB version 2.0 and a high speed serial. In addition the
I/O board also has two RS-232 interfaces for Console configuration
and key fill. The IPE-10Mx has been designed to comply with the
requirements of Cisco Systems 3200 rugged chassis 'Grizzly'.

The premise behind the IPE-10Mx is Mobile Virtual
Private Network using IPSec with Authentication and Strong
Encryption. All IP traffic traversing the trusted network is
authenticated, monitored and encrypted by the IPE-10Mx. Security
at the IP layer has a decisive advantage that, irrespective of
the interoperability conditions of various software and hardware
applications, all communication services are protected - data,
voice and video.
In its current form factor, PC/104 Plus, the
IPE-10Mx is designed to secure the communicaitons of the Cisco™ 3200
Series Mobile Access Router. Internet Engineering Task Force
- Internet Protocol Security (IETF-IPSEC), enhanced for High
Assurance communications, Tunnel mode is used with 256-bit AES-CTR
(Advanced Encryption Standard - countermode) and SHA-1 for authentication
and data integrity of all IP traffic on the a trusted network.
A self contained, low power, modular design allows the IPE-10Mx
to meet the highest level of security requirements and maintain
the flexibility to adapt to numerous IP environments. The IPE-10Mx
operates in both Strategic and Tactical modes to meet diverse
