GPS Receiver

The Western DataCom MobileCom family of cellular modems also includes an integrated GPS receiver which we offer as a single card solution, GPS only. The MobileCom 2.5G GPS only card provides NMEA serial GPS data and the MobileCom eXpress GPS only card offers NMEA GPS data via serial and the MobileCom eXpress GPS only card offers serial or Ethernet depending on the OS loading on the card.

The GPS receiver iss a 12-channel receiver that continuously tracks all satellites in view and provides accurate positioning data. The highly integrated digital receiver incorporates and enhances the established technology of the SiRFstartII chipset and it is designed to meet the needs of the most demanding applications, such as vehicle tracking in dense urban areas. The interface configuration allows incorporation into many existing devices and legacy designs. In addition, the GPS card provides interfaces for Dead Reckoning navigation using vehicle sensors when GPS satellite signals are unavailable.
