Google also helps you understand your company’s network by tracking and analyzing URLs across all your servers – helping you discover which hosts have the most content, which pages are missing because of robots.txt, and even which pages contain broken links. Tailored for company networks The Google Search Appliance retrieves the most common kinds of information found on company networks, including Microsoft Office documents, PDF, PostScript, and dozens of other filetypes. Google also searches Lotus Domino files, content management systems, SSL-protected servers, and proxy servers.

End User Experience
PageRankTM Analyzes the link structure of your intranet to determine the most important, highest

quality pages across all your sites.

Hypertext Analysis For each query, factors in 100 variables, including anchor text, URL patterns, fonts,
and positioning data to calculate relevance, which combined with the PageRank rating determines
the order of the results returned.

Dynamic Page Summaries Search result summaries contain dynamically generated snippets of text
that display query terms in the context of the page that is being returned, enabling users to better
judge relevancy before clicking on a chosen result.

Results Grouping Multiple results from the same subdirectory are grouped together, improving navigation
and clarity of search results.

Automatic Spellcheck Google’s highly advanced self-learning spellcheck algorithm automatically
detects misspellings and suggests corrections specific to your company’s own words and phrases.

Cached Pages Stores cached copies of every page in the index, so search results can be viewed when
the original sites are down.

Hit Highlighting When viewing cached pages, query terms are highlighted in color, allowing users to
quickly find which part of the page is relevant to their query.

View as HTML Non-HTML search results are automatically reformatted to provide an HTML option that
can be viewed by any browser, enabling users to access information even when the native application
is not available.

Sort By Date Enables users to search for time-sensitive information. Dates can be identified in any
international format from either the last-modified date, page title, page body or meta tags.

Simple Search Delivers superior results for single word, multi-word and phrase queries as well as natural
language requests, giving users a simple way to find information regardless of how they prefer to search.

Advanced Search Offers more than 10 special query terms for advanced search functionality and supports
